FAQs

What procedures do you provide?

  • Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)/ EMG tests, which includes motor, sensory, f-wave, & H-Reflex studies
  • Sudomotor Studies
  • Laser Nail fungus Treatments
  • Vascular/Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) testing, which includes ABI, PVR, & TBI.

Who bills for the studies?

There are three options:

  • You are able to bill for the studies.
  • MedStar can bill for the studies.
  • Hybrid: You can bill for some and Medstar can bill for others, depending on your preference, insurances, and scope of practice.

What sets us apart?

What sets us apart from other companies is that we provide physicians with the ability to bill for the studies, resulting in a great way to increase practice revenue in a fully legal and HIPAA compliant manner. We provide you with diagnostic and HIPAA compliant agreements to protect you and your practice from HIPAA, federal, and state regulations.

What insurances cover the testing?
Most insurance companies, including Medicare, cover and pay for the studies, however, as with any other procedures, you may need a referral and/or authorization from the patient’s insurance company in advance in order to properly be reimbursed.

Does reimbursement vary for different types of physicians?
Normally reimbursements don’t vary for M.D, D.O, D.P.M, and D.C. As with most other procedures, reimbursements may be different depending on billing setup (i.e. In Network; Out of Network).

How does the scheduling of test dates work?
We typically visit our clients on a set schedule – on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis – and perform testing on the patient scheduled in advance for that day by the physician.

Who does the testing?
The testing is done by certified technologists who are skilled, experienced, and have the patient’s comfort as a high priority. We are deeply proud of our existing employee and technician team, as well as our ability to recruit and hire new staff members that bring practical experience and fresh ideas as to how we can best meet the needs of patients and physicians. Our employees & technicians all embody the same philosophy of willingness and innate desire to partner with our doctors, listen to their needs, and most importantly, provide fast, accurate, and reliable diagnostic studies.

What is HIPAA and how does it play a role in diagnostic testing?
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996’s (HIPAA) Privacy and Security Rule provides federal protection for personal health information held by covered entities, which gives patients an array of rights with respect to that information. At the same time, the Privacy Rule is balanced so that it permits the disclosure of personal health information needed for patient care and other important purposes.

The Security Rule specifies a series of administrative, physical, and technical safeguards for covered entities to use to assure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected electronic health information. At Medstar Diagnostics, we take HIPAA rules very seriously by providing our clients with a HIPAA agreement protecting them from HIPAA rules and violations.
